Need advice on painting and decorating ideas?

Just bought a new home. Walls are flat white, vaulted ceilings with "half" wall dividing living room and kitchen, and beige carpet. My couch and love seat are also beige. I desperately want to add some color to the main part of my home, but I am not very creative. Would like some suggestions on paint colors and maybe some chair rail, or crown molding? How would I break up the colors going into kitchen or should I paint everything the same color? Thanks in advance for suggestions. I am going to try posting some pictures.

any ideas on what to use to remove paint from a wall?

i think it is latex, but it’s like a irridescent blue color. my brother spontaneously decided to paint it and we’re only allowed to paint it white so i’m trying to remove it. i know to use paint thinner, but don’t want the harsh fumes and the flammability. is there something less harsh that will work?

painting the basement walls? ideas for scenes to paint? rainforest, beach? any ideas welcome!?

~ I’m fixing up our basement and I’m going to move down there with my pet but I was wondering how I could fix it up? I wanted to pain the walls in a rainforest scene because of the pets I have, but I’m not quite sure, does anyone have any ideas? It’s going to be my own private space as no one will leave me alone anywhere else. I like the Pirates of the Caribbean, maybe a beach scene? Anyone have any pictures I could use as a base for ideas or something? I really need some ideas. Oh yes! Light blue or white as the base coat on the walls?

Thanks!!!

ideas for painting my dorm room?

I’ve obtained permission to paint the walls in my dorm room. My roommate has entrusted the task of picking a color to me but I’m having problems finding something to suit us both.

The walls are currently white. And it’s horrible – especially with the white tile floor. The room feels boring and unwelcoming. My roommate’s decor is darker – a sort of mythical gothic style. Blacks and purples and blues and silvers and reds. My decor is very bright – pink and turquoise and orange, etc. I’d like a color that compliments both of our styles.

Does anyone have ideas?
